Study Reveals Consumer Frustration With Retail Industry Over Plastic Waste Production

According to University of Sheffield research, British consumers are dissatisfied with the current reuse and recycling methods and are upset with the retail business for producing plastic garbage.

Researchers at the University’s School of English have discovered that retailers and manufacturers present themselves as assisting and encouraging consumers to make environmentally friendly decisions.The research’s conclusions, however, indicate that this isn’t how customers perceive the partnership.

This study is the first to examine the ways in which language can affect public perceptions and attitudes towards the reuse and recycling of plastics.

To gain a comprehensive understanding of how individuals discuss plastics in daily life and how language choices can influence behaviour, the team gathered linguistic data.
